Hi Linda, you can use 2-4 cups of water per cup of dried beans that have been soaked. Remember not to fill the pressure cooker more than half-way. Here is the cooking time: http://www.hippressurecooking.com/pressure-cooking-times/
Thanks Laura, they worked a treat. I now have a braised lamb shoulder with borlotti beans recipe. The boned and rolled shoulder is twice the size of the recipe. 1.4 kilos instead of 700 grams.
Do you increase the time from 25 minutes? It has 1 1/2 cups of soaked beans. I think it would be too much ingredient for the PC.
Maybe I should cut the meat in half and stick to the recipe!
After purchasing the Silit Sicomatic T-Plus Pressure cooker 6.5L a month ago, I decided to use it for the first time yesterday.
I went for the easy way. I just decided to cook some carrots and potatoes. After placing them in the cooker with water (1/2), I followed all the instructions. After the recommended 8 minutes, I removed the pot from the cooking zone. I decided to operate a fast team release as I have read on the book and as I have seen on Youtube videos. The steam was released from the valve as expected but also a HUGE AMOUNT of WATER that flooded my cooking area. How is that possible?
I have checked the lid, the pot, the valve, etc. Everything seems okay.
Hi Alex
I have the same issue. I try to do a quick release too. I pushed the button from 2 to 1 slowly and steam was released and all looked well until, I move on the the next step by pushing it all the way from 1 to 0. Liquid gushing out. It looked scary. Surely, Silit with just name and engineering behind it has a proper quick release system. All my valves silicon cover and silicon ring are brand new.
I just tried my new Silit pressure cooker but lamb shanks were still tough after 45 minutes – 1/2 hour at pressure #2 and then another 15 minutes at #3 – I am trying to find info in the manual whether the pressure indicator either lights up or raises up as neither of these happened during the cooking time
Amelia, the pressure indicator should rise. That’s what the manual says. Test your cooker by just boiling water in it to see if it works or if the recipe was flawed, instead.
To cook Cannellini beans which have been soaked overnight how much liquid to 1 cup of dried beans and how long do you cook them?
